Aberfoyle is a fabulous resort centre for the National Park paradise of the Great Outdoors. If a holiday here fails to free you spirit, see your doctor!! Vitally, we are here to make your life as easy as possible, not vice versa; if we can help make your visit the more memorable for all the best reasons, you can be sure we will.

Cycling
Aberfoyle is on the main Route 7 cycle path, and in addition there are hundreds of Kilometres of forestry tracks which are suitable for hybrid and mountain bikes. Most rides can be made into circuits and range from short easy routes of a few kilometres to long arduous full day trips. We have two mountain bikes for our guests to use free of charge (first come first served and entirely at your risk); this enables infrequent cyclists to sample the delights... we can also arrange bike hire with partner organisations offering more specialised equipment for the enthusiastic cyclist, childrens' bikes, tag-a-long baby trailers etc.

Walking and Climbing
Aberfoyle is in the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park and there are many wonderful walks from short strolls to full day outings among the forest views, lochs and glens. For those who prefer Munros or Corbetts, there are a few dozen within easy travel using Aberfoyle as your luxury resort base. It would be difficult to imagine more variety of "Great Outdoors" for most skill and difficulty levels to satisfy families and groups travelling together.

Watersports, Archery and Shooting
Scotland's watersports specialists "GoForth" are based on Loch Ard only a few minutes from Crannaig House - fabulous scenery - safety equipment provided. Land Rover safaris and ATV Quad bikes etc - perfect for fun events and team building courses. Archery lessons come highly recommended. The Ledard Shotgun and shooting school is nearby; almost any selection of activities can also be packaged for fun weekends etc by GoForth. Our rural community collaborates to bring a unique party atmosphere to competitive events such as our own Highland Games.
Enquiries are welcome from small groups (3 max) wishing to go deerstalking in some of the wildest country Great Britain has to offer!

Arts and Crafts Courses
Crannaig House is delighted to present the ideal opportunity to try your hand at new arts and crafts for the first time or to develop your skills under the tutelage of accomplished professionals, all in the most delightful surroundings... everything from painting portraits or landscapes through leather work, creative welding, throwing pots to making silver jewellery. Partners and children of those enjoying their skilful pastime are welcome to enjoy everything our National Park resort has to offer. There are some regular programmed courses, but please contact us to ask when your choice of art and craft skills is next due to be arranged. If you can put together a group of six to eight friends, we will arrange a course especially for you. You will appreciate this is a collaborative partnership involving many people in The National Park community, so please give us a range of dates which suit you and we will contact our partners to make the most cost effective arrangements we can.

Pony Trekking and Horse B&B
Pony Trekking can be arranged at Castle Rednock - advance bookings only please - beginners to experienced riders; works best for individuals or small groups. Enquiries are invited from people wishing to bring their own horse with them - we have local partners experienced in providing all your horse needs together with fabulous open hill rides.

Curling
Following closure of the famous Forest Hills Resort curling facilities, we are "back to nature"... The Bonspiel will still be held at The Lake of Menteith when the ice is thick enough! The curling rink at Forest Hills is currently being used for indoor bowls and archery instruction.

Astronomy
The Trossachs area has so little light pollution compared to other areas of Britain that a visit to Crannaig House could be the ideal opportunity to see stars and the planets of our own solar system, perhaps for the first time. Please bring a hat and warm clothing!
